Mary Elizabeth Parent Joins Kappa Mapping, Inc.

May 1, 2012

Bangor, ME –  Mary Elizabeth Parent recently joined the full-time staff of Kappa Mapping, Inc., a Bangor-based, woman-owned firm that provides aerial photography, photogrammetry, and digital mapping services to clients throughout the US.

According to Kappa President Claire Kiedrowski, Parent was first hired in December 2011 to work part-time on an orthophotography project for the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a government agency that studies the natural resources and the natural hazards inherent in the US landscape.

She also represented Kappa as the firm collaborated with the Bangor Daily News to create a Bangor region map for the Greater Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce.

In April, Parent became a full-time, permanent Kappa employee. “Mary Beth brings so much to Kappa Mapping,” said Kiedrowski, who recently announced the hire. “She has demonstrated strong team leadership skills, proficiency with multiple mapping and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software, and a solid knowledge of the natural world from Maine to Alaska.”

Parent received a BS degree in environmental science from the University of Maine in 2009 and her MS in remote sensing and GIS from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, in 2011.
