Presque Isle, ME (2006) – Maine DOT

The purpose of this project was to produce engineering grade planimetric and topographic mapping, and digital orthophotography for ME DOT planning. Using ground control and AT provided by the client, KAPPA Mapping, Inc. provided stereo compilation, editing, and digital orthophotography of the “corridors” potentially involved in a proposed extension of Interstate 95 around Presque Isle. Stereo compiling break lines enhanced LiDAR data; the resulting data set was accurate for engineering grade DTM, 1’ contours. Several orthophotos were mosaicked together, producing one seamless image, and then color balanced to minimize the effects of the number of different images that were stitched together.

Ogunquit, ME (2006) - Maine DOT

KAPPA Mapping, Inc. provided engineering-grade planimetric and topographic mapping (1”=50’, 1’ contour interval) for this project concerning a proposed widening of a section of Route One in Ogunquit.  KAPPA also generated black & white orthophotographs.  The delivered data met the criteria of Maine DOT standards. Size of Project:  275+ acres.

Scientific Forestry Management Area, ME (2005) – Baxter State Park Authority

KAPPA Mapping, Inc. coordinated activities for this color orthorectification mapping project. KAPPA determined flying height, designed flight plans, coordinated surveying activities, reviewed aerotriangulation results, and provided QA/QC review for color orthophotographs obtained during peak foliage.  The purpose of the imagery was forest planning.  Size of project:  29,000+ acres

I-395 Extension, Bangor, ME (2005) – Maine DOT

KAPPA Mapping, Inc. provided aerotriangulation, planimetric and topographic mapping, and digitial orthophotography to be used for planning purposes by the ME DOT.  Stereo compilation consisted of planimetric mapping according to ME DOT specifications using breaklines to supplement LiDAR elevation data. KAPPA also translated data to MX format for final delivery.

Auburn, ME (2005) – Maine DOT

KAPPA Mapping, Inc. provided engineering grade planimetric and topographic mapping for this DOT Corridor Mapping project. KAPPA was responsible for flight planning, aerotriangulation, stereo compilation, editing and translation.  Mapping was done at a scale of 1”=50’ and 1’ contours. Stereo compiled data was integrated with ME DOT survey collected data in the final deliverable.

Size of Project: approx. 170 acres

Prospect-Verona Bridge, Prospect, ME (2004) – Maine DOT

KAPPA Mapping, Inc. provided detailed planimetric and topographic mapping for the existing historic bridge and approaching roadways, as well as for nearby Fort Knox State Park. Using the compiled DTM, images were orthorectified, and then mosaicked into one seamless image that was color balanced using sophisticated image enhancement technology. The final product, a base map, was utilized with traditional surveying to design the new bridge and bridge approaches.
