Sean Gambrel joins the KAPPA Team as a Mapping Analyst and GIS Specialist

Sean brings a strong background in GIS production and town planning to the KAPPA Mapping production mix. A graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in Urban & Regional Planning, Sean is proficient in ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Maptitude, and Community Viz. In his new role with KAPPA, Sean is responsible for project set-up and investigation of client data, workflow development, problem investigation, and orthophoto production.

Maine Senator Susan Collins visits KAPPA Mapping, Inc.

On November 21, 2006, KAPPA Mapping, Inc. was honored by a visit from US Senator Susan Collins. Sen. Collins toured the facilities, chatted with each employee about his or her work, and met with Claire Kiedrowski (president), Rob Garster, and Stevenson “Shep” Sheppard (co-owners) to discuss issues of concern to small businesses in Maine. Senator Collins was very responsive to every issue raised during the discussion. 

KAPPA Mapping Inc. provides base mapping for Penobscot Narrows Bridge

Since its completion in December, 2006, the Penobscot Narrows Bridge has been hailed as one of the most significant civil engineering projects completed in recent years. KAPPA was involved in the project at the get-go, providing detailed planimetric and topographic features for the existing historic bridge and roadway approaches, as well as for nearby Fort Knox State Park. Working closely with the DOT and sharing project administration tasks, KAPPA was able to deliver the engineering grade base maps within the budget guidelines and meeting the aggressive time schedule.      

KAPPA provides mapping support for I-295 project in South Portland

Working as a subcontractor, KAPPA Mapping, Inc. is currently working on an
I-295 mapping project in South Portland for the Maine DOT. KAPPA is providing stereo compilation, editing, and orthophotography for the engineering grade mapping

Portland, Maine base mapping contract awarded to KAPPA Mapping, Inc.

KAPPA Mapping, Inc., was recently awarded a contract to do base mapping in Portland for the Maine DOT.  Using aerial photography and control supplied by the DOT, KAPPA will provide topographic mapping and digital orthophotography for this project. The resulting maps will be used for engineering and planning purposes.

In a project covering 1.2 million acres, KAPPA Mapping, Inc. helped produce digital color orthophotography for the Municipality of Anchorage. KAPPA was responsible for flight planning, AT, DTM integration, orthorectification & mosaicking, color balancing, image tile layout and delivery. Color high-altitude (18,000’ above ground) imagery was used to minimize cost to the client. The delivered product meets specifications of several municipal departments in terms of planning, E911, and public works.

Burpee, Wickett Join KAPPA Mapping, Inc

KAPPA Completes Tax Map Project for Town of Bar Harbor

KAPPA Mapping, Inc., headquartered in Bangor, is pleased to announce the completion of a major tax map project for the Town of Bar Harbor, Maine. The project, on which KAPPA Mapping worked in conjunction with the Bangor office of Photo Science, Inc., represents the first time that comprehensive digital parcel maps have been created for the entire town.
