Spanning the Penobscot River, the new 2,119-foot cable-stay bridge under construction in midcoast Maine includes two towers that will rise 420 feet above the water, one of which will include an observatory that will provide expansive views across upper Penobscot Bay, western Hancock County, and eastern Waldo County. KAPPA Mapping, Inc., was proud to be selected to produce engineering base maps for this $84 million project.
Scheduled to be completed in late 2006, the bridge will replace a scenic steel suspension bridge just upstream that was constructed in 1931. More information about the new bridge and up-to-date construction information can be found at www.waldohancockbridge.com/waldo-county-bridge/
